It's been over 30 years since I last ventured back to HK in the heat of summer. I have never been a big fan of heat, humidity and crowds especially when they are all linked together. To make things worse, just 24 hours before my 15 hour flight to the orient I had a sudden onset of intense back pain. Luckily I managed to see my doctor and got a good shot of novocain and it helped. The muscle relaxer also helped me fell asleep on the plane. Now the exciting part, I got upgraded to business class! It was the most cushy ride I ever had. The business class on Singapore airlines is most superb. You can turn your seat into a bed. It's like living in a pod with all your amenities next to you and you can lie flat and straight, well at least for people under 6 ft tall. Thus begun my journey home.
Going home is hard to do, a song title? May be, but definitely the sentiment that most people feel. To be honest, I don't feel like I'm part of it. Everything is so foreign, definitely not the town I left decades ago. But today the weather though hot was bearable, the sky was clear and you could see miles away, apparently no longer the case most of the time. I am enjoying my family and yes, quite happy.
